About Me
I'm an experienced doctor and a Pittsburgh native. For close to 30 years, I've been a member of Temple Sinai - a reform synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood. I recently retired from my practice as a urologist at UPMC, and now I'm excited to serve as a certified mohel.
Learn more about my journey to give back to the community as a mohel in this Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle article.
My Background
I grew up in Pittsburgh. After attending Carnegie Mellon University, I moved to Philadelphia to pursue medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. I completed my urology training at Washington University's Barnes-Jewish Hospitals in St. Louis.
I returned to Pittsburgh in 1990, and have been on the staff at several area hospitals including UPMC St. Margaret, UPMC Shadyside, and West Penn Hospital. For 25 years, I served as Chief of the Division of Urology at UPMC St. Margaret's Hospital.
After retiring, I wanted to give back to the community, so I completed the Brit Milah Program of Reform Judaism and became a member of the National Organization of American Mohalim. I feel honored to have the opportunity to share this joyous tradition with families in Western PA and surrounding areas.
I've been happily married for over 39 years and have two adult children that live in Brooklyn, NY.
Although my family teases me when I bring it up, I am proud to be an Eagle Scout.
